This article covers how to sign in to Office apps with Microsoft Authenticator.


Instructions

  1. Open the Office app that you want to sign in to. Then click on the Account link on the bottom left.

    • In Microsoft OneNote, you may have to click File and then select Account.

    • In Microsoft Teams, you may have to click on your profile image at the top right to find the sign out option.

  2. Check that the User Information is for your SJC account. Then click Sign out.

    • Check that the account listed is your SJC account and not a personal Microsoft account. If your personal account is listed, click Switch Account to enter your SJC email address and switch to your SJC account.

    • Click Sign out.

  3. Click Yes to complete the sign out.

  4. Click Sign In.

    • If you are on a personal device, you may be signed in with your personal Microsoft account. If so, click Switch Account to sign in with your SJC account.

  5. Enter your SanJac email address. Then click Next.

    • Enter your SanJac email address. Faculty/staff should enter their @sjcd.edu email address; students should enter their @stu.sanjac.edu email address.

    • Click Next.

  6. Enter your College network password. Then click Sign In.

    • Enter your College network password. This is the same password that you use to log on to a campus computer.

    • Click Sign In.

  7. An Approve sign in screen will appear asking you to approve the request using your Microsoft Authenticator app.

  8. Open the notification or the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device.

  9. Choose Approve if you recognize the sign-in attempt. Otherwise, choose Deny.

  10. Use your phone’s PIN or your biometric key to complete the authentication. You're done!
